Senior Principal Consultant - Procurement
Born in Hong Kong, grew up in Canada, escaped to Japan for 10 years, and fell in love with Melbourne, Sarina has always had an interest in people and different cultures.
For that reason, Sarinas love for the recruitment industry comes as no surprise.
Sarina provides recruitment solutions for procurement and purchasing professionals across a wide range of industries such as FMCG, retail, manufacturing, infrastructure, telecommunications and health services.
She believes that a career is crucial to everyone’s life and therefore enjoys learning about the structure and culture of different organisations, so that she is better placed to find the most suitable match for her clients and candidates. Sarina plays a vital part in contributing to different procurement transformations or new team recruitment campaigns for Miller Leith’s partners.
Sarina loves getting to know people and her secret weapon is bringing a candidate’s profile to life. She draws inspiration from individual achievements and gains fulfilment from the potential she has to positively impact an organisations long term success.
Two things close to Sarina’s heart are her family in Canada and her mini dachshund, Cooper.
What’s really important to you?
Cooper, my little sausage dog. I love him dearly. Also, my friends are a very important part of my support network. Community, in terms of my surroundings, my workplace and where I’m living.
What is something quirky about you?
My dad made up a nickname for me in Chinese, which translates to something along the lines of ‘little beans’ in English. For that, I blame him for always being so petite. I play the ukulele. I am spiritual. I meditate daily, even just for 5 minutes. I lived in Japan for 10 years so there’s not much I haven’t tried… I’m always up for a food challenge!
What motivates you about the recruitment industry?
It’s rewarding when you can find someone a job that either they never imagined they would get, or at the very least, provide guidance towards the direction of their career. I like to inspire people and give them ideas on how they should approach their career.
Your teammates would describe you as…
Bossy, funny, and entertaining. Small person but a big voice!
