Miller Leith Expands to Tasmania: Supporting People and Businesses Across the Entire East Coast

When the team at Miller Leith first started thinking about expanding into Tasmania, it wasn’t a decision made on a map or a market report. It came from conversations with clients, with candidates, with partners, and from seeing a real gap in how businesses were being supported across the east coast.

For years, Miller Leith has been helping people and organisations in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane navigate every stage of the career lifecycle, from recruitment and contracting to consulting and career transition. But there was one piece missing: a genuine presence on the ground and across the east coast, including Tasmania.

“We’ve always believed that recruitment is about more than just filling roles,” says Stephen Borg, Founder and CEO at Miller Leith. “It’s about building relationships, understanding local markets, and supporting people throughout their careers. Tasmania deserved that same level of attention.”

Finding the Right People, in the Right Place

Enter Lara Gebka, our Director – Tasmania. With deep local knowledge, a network built over 16 years in the Tasmanian market, and an authentic approach to client and candidate relationships, Lara was the perfect person to lead the expansion.

Since joining, she’s been hitting the ground running: meeting local business leaders, getting to know talent across key industries like FMCG, manufacturing, MedTech, and GreenTech, and helping organisations solve real workforce challenges.

“Tasmania has such an energetic and close-knit business community,” Lara explains. “Across Launceston, Hobart, and the regions in between, it’s about being there, listening, and helping people find solutions that work — recruiting the right person, supporting someone through a career transition, or helping a company plan for growth. That’s what excites me about this role.”

Why This Expansion Matters

Miller Leith’s move into Tasmania comes from a genuine interest in the people and businesses that make the state what it is. After years supporting organisations along the east coast, we’re now able to bring that same experience to Tasmania while keeping things personal and local. As a medium-sized agency, we can back clients in every major east coast city without losing the closeness and community focus that matter so much in places like Launceston and Hobart.

This means Tasmanian organisations now have access to the full integrated offering of Miller Leith services, temporary and permanent recruitment, consulting, and career support, delivered with a consistent, people-first approach.

“Lara brings incredible insight to the Tasmanian market,” Stephen adds. “Combined with our broader east coast reach, it’s a partnership that really puts clients and candidates first. We’re here to make an impact that lasts.”

Looking Ahead

The launch in Tasmania completes our east coast story, but it’s just the beginning. For Miller Leith, it’s about relationships, opportunity, and growth, for our clients, for our candidates, and for the communities we’re part of.

We’re proud to be in Tasmania and already seeing the difference a values-driven, connected approach can make. Whether you’re a business seeking the right people to drive your growth or a professional exploring your next career move, Lara Gebka is here to help. With her deep understanding of the local market and the full support of Miller Leith’s east coast network, she can provide tailored solutions, advice, and connections that make a real difference.
