Lara Gebka

Joining Miller Leith in 2025 as Director – Tasmania, Lara leads our growth across the state, delivering executive search, specialist recruitment, contracting solutions and talent advisory services.

With a strategic, evolving and impactful approach, she is dedicated to building authentic relationships and creating talent outcomes that genuinely move the needle for individuals, teams and organisations.

Commencing her recruitment career in 2009, Lara now brings 16+ years of experience across Human Resources, Business Support & Finance, Technical roles and Executive appointments. Known for her strong networks, strategic insight and human-centred leadership style, she is recognised for helping clients build high-performing teams and supporting candidates in taking meaningful steps forward in their careers. Helping someone improve their career, or introducing an exceptional talent who transforms a team, is what motivates her most.

Born and raised in Tasmania, Lara has always been deeply connected to the island she calls home. After time spent overseas, she returned to raise her family, which now includes two energetic kids, a lively Border Collie and a British Blue cat.

Lara is inspired by leaders who blend purpose with performance and who openly share the messy middle of growth, not just the polished highlights. She gravitates toward podcasts, audiobooks and conversations that explore real, raw experiences because that’s where the best lessons live.

Outside of work, you’ll find her court side coaching junior basketball, cheering on her daughter as a proud dance mum, or soaking up her favourite things, travel, brunch, live music and spending time outdoors, ideally by the beach or on a boat.

What’s important to you?
My family. Being active in their lives means everything to me, I know they’re only young once. Whether it’s watching my daughter shine at dance comps, taking my son mountain biking or hosting a house full of kids for sleepovers, those are the moments I love most.

What is something quirky about you?
I don’t eat bananas… or anything that might contain them!

What motivates you about the recruitment industry?
There are three major life choices people make: where they live, who they partner with and where they work. Being able to influence one of those decisions, supporting someone to grow their career or helping a leader build an incredible team, is incredibly motivating.
